Jazz Standards
This course is based on my written arrangements of classic jazz standards – “evergreens”. Each arrangement will be analyzed note-by-note so that you can apply these voicing techniques directly to your favourite tunes. Some of the techniques I will deal with in these videos are: Drop 2, Double-note Lead (popularized by George Shearing), Inner Voice Movement, Counterpoint, Left Hand Arpeggios, and Substitutions. I will also explain the compositional techniques used by the great North American popular composers: Richard Rogers, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, and others in crafting these tunes which are an eternal source of inspiration and study. The complete scores of all the arrangements are included and available to download.
